The book launch of Blue as a Cornflower, Red as a Poppy was in the North Shore Times. We held the book launch on Friday 9, 2018. This was two days before the armistice centennial. It was a very timely reminder of the shared destinies of our two countries.
At the book launch of Blue as a Cornflower, Red as a Poppy. Last year the students in this photo wrote and illustrated a book about the experiences of French and New Zealand soldiers at the Western Front during World War I. The French part of the story was focused on Verdun. The New Zealand part of the story was focussed on the Somme. These were both very important battles for New Zealand and France.
Students from Newlands College (Wellington) were in France with their partner school Lycée Nucera (Nice) during ANZAC Day this year. Both schools have been exchanging knowledge around The Great War since the relationship began in 2013. It was now time for the young New Zealanders to experience ANZAC on French soil, in Antibes.

Un petit bilan de la visite de 3 semaines des Français du lycée Madeleine Michelis chez nous à Wellington College
Senior French students from Newlands College are getting excited about their forthcoming trip to France in just 5 weeks. After spending a week in Paris, absorbing the culture and taking in the sights, they will then head to Nice, where they will spend 10 days in homestays and school. Some of our students are busy preparing speeches to deliver at ANZAC commemorations in Antibes on 25 April, which is a day our whole group will be attending.
Newlands College students only have 7 weeks to go until departing for France. We are looking forward to commemorating ANZAC Day in Antibes this year, and our students have been invited to speak at this event. A link to the day's events is here: http://www.anzac-antibes.com/
