Reflection on ANZAC day

It’s a shame to admit but today was the first time I attended the ANZAC dawn service.

Back to la France #ya2014nz

Francophones en herbe

Francophones en herbe

Quelle est la nourriture du leader?

C’est la connaissance, c’est la communication.

What is the food of the leader?

It is knowledge, it is communication.

I was selected last year as one of the 10 young people from around New Zealand to go to France as a Shared Histories Young Ambassador, and commemorate New Zealand's involvement in the war. It was an incredible experience to be a part of the Young...

Past and Future

Written by Materia Hutana

Last blog this year. Seems scary to think that we were in France a month ago and just like that reality hits and I miss it all. “In a blink of an eye it’s all gone”. I never use to get that quote but now I do. Just like that we were there and now we are here, seems like a dream.

Snap back to reality, I presented my findings of the trip and project to my French class. I think they were quite shocked when I showed them pictures that war photographers took. It was gruesome to see the reality...

One Month On...

It's been about a month since the Young Ambassadors and I returned from France and not a day has passed that I don't think about and miss this beautiful country and the friends I made.

Gone like the wind

Gone like the wind

Saying goodbye

C’était très bien voyager en France. La famille d’accueil était très gentille et accueillent.

I loved every bit of the trip from waiting at the airport to travelling around France and Belgium. My host family were very kind, they took me and Lilly far and wide to experience their culture. The most memorable part of the trip for me (well I got a few but to narrow down) was the bag pipes band at the ceremony in Belgium and the Longueval ceremony. To listen to music from New...

"Standing in the Footsteps of History"

Written by Sean Takai
"Standing in the Footsteps of History"

After coming back from France and reflecting on the visit there, I can truly say that it was an amazing experience for me and everyone else on the tour.

The 14 days that we were there for seems like such a short time now, but with all the visits and activities planned for us each day, there was so much to take in, and every day was a great learning opportunity!

He Tangata

Written by Thomas Swinburn
He Tangata
