The Young Ambassadors Shared Histories Tour defined my 2014. It took me to the backstreets of Paris, the Eiffel tower, a tiny apartment in Montmartre, Caterpillar Valley, Arras, Le Quesnoy and the Menin Gate with people...
Salut,
Today I began my string of school visits speaking to two Year 12 History classes from Baradene College about the Shared Histories project and our trip. It was great to talk to them especially since they have already done great work with the project and will have the opportunity to travel to France next year on what will be an amazing trip.
I am heading towards exams now but I am looking forward to talking to other schools from around Auckland in the coming months. It was great to...
Salut!
This last week at school has been a harsh reality after the incredible experience of the Shared Histories Young Ambassadors tour to France. It was an opportunity that will stay with me for a long time being able to represent my country, visiting the sites and memorials of the First World War and most of all making great friends and having a great time with the other 10 ambassadors.
Now when I look back to my first blogs, I realise how much the meaning and the importance of this...
Over the last month my project has picked up pace and I have learned a lot in regards to my topic of the recognition of war and the role of the media. This was heavily boosted by the day we spent in Wellington and I have now three key developments I want to share.
The first involves our visit to the New Zealand portrait Gallery in...
Bonjour,
During the holidays my family and I biked the Rail Trail in South Otago. It was a great experience. In every small town I passed there was a World War One memorial (this is the same around New Zealand as we saw in Ailish's recent bog). It’s still hard to comprehend the numbers of those that died from tiny towns of less than a thousand people at the time. The lists of...
Bonjour,

My question is going to focus on perception and in a nutshell it is:
To what extent has the perception of New Zealand War efforts during World War One evolved over time the last hundred years?
I will particularly focus on recognition (In terms of acknowledgement and appreciation) shown towards soldiers in New Zealand...
