Last blog this year. Seems scary to think that we were in France a month ago and just like that reality hits and I miss it all. “In a blink of an eye it’s all gone”. I never use to get that quote but now I do. Just like that we were there and now we are here, seems like a dream.
Snap back to reality, I presented my findings of the trip and project to my French class. I think they were quite shocked when I showed them pictures that war photographers took. It was gruesome to see the reality of war, it wasn’t all black and white as the propaganda made it out to be back in the day.
What I took away from the trip was the commitment and sacrifice that the soldiers, families, friends had to go through. If you weren’t fighting for your life in the battle field, you were at home wondering if your loved one will return and doing extra work just to pick up where your loved one left off. Or trying to help wounded soldiers, or transport goods from point a to b. Everyone from a soldier to a baker had to sacrifice things for their country to ‘win’ a war. Everyone in the war had hardships and things weren’t daisy.
Hopes for the future would be more peace. Right now I feel that the atmosphere has changed in the world and more things are going wrong. Being in Paris was intimidating, practically seeing the Eiffel tower under lock down. Security guards everywhere, you had to go through security to actually get under the tower. I went there exactly a year ago and it wasn’t like that, the atmosphere was a Tourist-Parisian one.
My hopes for the future is that there is more stability and peace in the world, no more lies and cover-ups just people being people and the world keeps spinning.
