Juin 2014 - Extrait de la lettre de Siham (Fr) à Margaret (NZ):

“….Nicolas and I just wanted to tell you that our school trip to the "Somme" battlefields and cemeteries went alright and that the students looked for the NZ soldiers on the" missing wall".

I think they finally realised what our partnership consisted in.

It was crystal clear when they had to put a "homemade" poppy next to the names, in fact our twelve-year-old students took part in the project by making paper poppies and blue cornflowers during their free time at school ( they really enjoyed doing it).

In the Caterpillar Valley Cemetery, we organised a kind of ceremony to honour NZ and Fr  WWI soldiers . Our students read a poem by J.Mc Crae ( In Flanders fields) in English and in French.

Then, a student put a poppy wreath with our messages.

And finally, they looked for the soldiers whose names you gave us….”
