My project so far

Bonjour a tous

Firstly I just want to thank all of the people who have given me money towards this amazing trip. I want to thank the BNZ bank, the Palmerston North Cosmopolitan Club and to my school Palmerston North Boys High School. All of these groups have made a significant contribution that totals $1000 in raised funds towards the trip and I just want to take this opportunity to publicly thank all of these groups.

So for my project I have delved deeper into the life of one of the old boys of my school, Guy Clark Wilson. I have found out that he fought for the New Zealand rifle brigade as a rifleman. He was killed during the battle of Bapaume, 6 August 1918. I have discovered that he had a wife and was a farmer before he enlisted into the New Zealand Army. We have been learning about the First World War in History and French class which have also contributed to my understanding of this project.

Bapaume is not far from where we will be staying in Arras. During my time in France I would like to visit the site where the battle was fought and also visit the cemetery where I think he is buried. I cannot wait for the trip, it should be an awesome experiece!

Again I would just like to thank the Palmerston North Cosmopolitan Club, BNZ and the Palmerston North Old Boys Association for making this trip possible for me.

A bientot!
