Alors, on the 25th of June nine ambassadors and myself travelled to Wellington to meet, greet and get to know all of the other Young Ambassadors. We started at the Alliance Francaise where we introduced ourselves to each other and learnt what our projects are going to be. We then spent the rest of the morning discussing and developing our ideas with the teachers from the other schools.
Then in the afternoon we went to the Great War exhibition where we experienced an insight of the experiences that the soldiers had during the war. It also gave me an insight into the way that whole towns were torn apart by war, both physically and emotionally. After this sobering experience we made our way back to the Alliance Francaise where we would then move on to the French Embassy. Here we enjoyed French cuisine and the company of other people involved in the Shared Histories project.
For my project I will dive deeper into the life of an old boy or boys of Palmerston North Boy’s High School. I will try to find out where they fought and other information about them. By doing this I hope to give a few of the old boys seem more real than just a photo. Also I hope to visit the sites of where our old boys fought and see their graves to pay my respects to them.
Please keep up with my blogs and the blogs of the other Ambassadors,
Merci beaucoup et a bientôt
