Representing France during this trip a big responsibility #ya2018fr

My name is Virginie F, I’m 18 years old, I am student in Year 12.

I wanted to participate to this competition because some members of my family was in Arras during the First World War and it’s was like a obligation for them memory to show what they do and with who they do it. I choose to make my video [entry for the competition] in the Carrière Wellington because a lot of New-Zealanders was there and it was the first museum of history that I visited in my life.

For my video my grandfather and my sister’s boyfriend helping me about the history and my sister for the editing of the video.

I also wanted to learn a new culture and a new dialect from an another part of the world. In my point of view, the commemoration of the First World War is important because a part ofthe war happened in France. This year will be the hundred years of the end of the First WorldWar.

This commemoration is important because our history, our memory, our nationality continue to exist thanks to the people who fought for us French, British, Australian, Canadian,New-Zealander...

France wants to express its gratitude, this is why the commemoration of the First World War is important in France.

The young people are involved in this commemoration because our ancestor freed us and teenagers learn in school but they want to learn something else that what we know in the books. The documentary and the anniversary show some details of the history and the culture of other countries.

I want to participate to the young ambassadors program in New Zealand 2018, to understand the life of the descendents and how the First World War impacted their lives and their culture.

Representing France during this journey will be a big pleasure and also a big responsibility because we have to learn, understand and explain to our country what we’re during this week. We will be mediators for French people, but also for New-Zealanders.

This exchange will be asign for our history and will prove the friendship between those two countries will continue every single day, we will make sure that our countries will stay in perfect political relationship.
