Le temps passe vite...

Where has the time gone? It’s hard to believe that about this time last year we had only just found out that we were Young Ambassadors, but in this short space of time so much has happened! I’m so grateful to have had this opportunity - I’ve learnt so much and I’ve met so many awesome people along the way. Not only has this experience improved my French and knowledge of WW1, it has definitely made me more eager to see the world and discover more of its history.

Throughout the year I’ve been...

Limehills Visit

Limehills School Visit:
On the 21st of October I took a trip back to my old primary school (Limehills School), to talk to the Year 7 and 8 classes about my trip to France and my journey as a Young Ambassador. It was awesome to talk to these kids as a number of them have previously done some study on The Unknown Warrior and are going on a school camp to Wellington later this month. I had lots of fun hanging out with them and answering all their questions, and I look forward to hearing about their...

Je suis de retour..

Bonjour à tous!

So I’m back in New Zealand after an unforgettable trip to France! I had the time of my life with the other Young Ambassadors, creating lifelong memories and friendships in France and Belgium.
Here are some highlights from the trip.

5 jours à Paris :
On the 14th of July, we were lucky enough to be accepted as official guests to watch the Bastille Day Military Parade on the Champs Elysées. It was awesome to be part of such a wonderful event. Later that night we watched the...

I was particularly interested in ‘The Berry Boys’ exhibit, as seeing the 30 portraits of unknown Kiwi faces of World War One was a true...

We Will Remember Them

“They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning,
We will remember them.”

ANZAC Day Dawn Service
For ANZAC Day this year I attended a local dawn service at the Anzac Oval in Winton, which despite the weather, had yet another large turnout with people of all ages. After the service I joined many others for a morning tea put on by the local RSA. This was an awesome opportunity to hear stories and...

Mémoire du temps passé

Bonjour tout le monde!

Firstly, thank you to everyone for all the help and support I have received so far. The amount of positive feedback and support I’ve had from students, teachers, schools and my local community has been overwhelming and it’s a privilege to be representing you all! smile

For me, the last few weeks have been pretty busy, as my Young Ambassador’s Project has started to get into full swing. Following my article in The Southland Times, I had an incredible response from people in my...

My Inquiry

My Inquiry Question:

What significant aspects of life have changed for teenagers living in France and New Zealand today, in comparison to how teenager’s lived in France and New Zealand one hundred years ago?

Why I have chosen it?
