Shared Histories: Notre projet à Columba College Madame Hill

Our project is well underway!

Our first idea was to research using Columba College school magazines dating from 1915, when our school opened, to 1917. In these, we found the names of several soldiers with connections to our college.

A letter to the school community revealed several current students with family connections to those who fought in France during World War I. Our next step is to further research these soldiers and share this new information with our partner school in France.

An interesting story has come to light recounting the experiences of a soldier in the Otago mounted Rifles. A member of the family of a current student at Columba, has written a children's story based on his experiences.

    Salut tout le monde,
The children's story is a handwritten copy but the plan we have it to translate it into French and have it illustrated by a student.

How interesting to go back in the school history and make the connections. Epsom Girls Grammar has chosen a similar, rich angle, it will make great reading for visitors to the blog to follow, and compare your journeys. I wonder if the children's story is published anywhere. Do you have any reference to it to find it please?
