Bonjour, je m'appelle Julie C, j'ai 15 ans. Je suis une élève du Lycée Guy Mollet à Arras.
Pour moi il est très important de se souvenir de ces hommes qui ont combattu pour que notre pays puisse retrouver la paix et être ce qu'il est aujourd'hui. Les commémorations de la 1ere Guerre Mondiale sont importantes pour la France car la France est attachée à son passé et aux hommes qui se sont battus pour que nous puissions être libre. Ils se sont sacrifiés pour notre liberté donc nous devons les remercier en commémorant ces soldats, souvent jeunes qui sont venus du monde entier pour combattre et libérer la France.
Notre pays et en particulier la ville d'Arras doivent beaucoup au peuple Néo Zélandais. Des tunneliers Néo Zélandais ont eu un rôle important lors de la bataille d'Arras. Cette bataille très meurtrière qui conduira à la victoire finale et la fin de cette guerre ( a bataille d'Arras a eu lieu du 9 avril au 16 mai 1917).
Chaque famille Néo Zélandaise est liée à notre pays par un membre de sa famille qui a combattu pour libérer notre pays lors de la 1ere Guerre Mondiale. La connaissance de ce fait m'a interpellé et je souhaitais remercier le peuple Néo Zélandais pour son aide si importante afin que notre pays retrouve la paix. Je pense qu'il est très important pour nous les jeunes de ne pas oublier l'aide si précieuse apportée par les Néo Zélandais à notre pays.
Il est donc essentiel de veiller à maintenir des relations fortes entre nos deux pays à jamais liés par l'histoire.
Je n'ai pas d'ancêtre ayant fait la 1ere Guerre Mondiale mais je suis touchée que des hommes aient risqué leur vie pour nous permettre d'être libre et heureux en 2018.
Je me suis intéressée à ce projet car il me permet de découvrir la Nouvelle Zélande, pays qui me fait rêver. Ceci va me permettre de découvrir ses traditions, sa nourriture, la façon dont vivent les Néo Zélandais. Mais aussi de découvrir l'histoire de ce pays et de rendre hommage à ces hommes qui ont tout quitté pour la liberté de la France. Ils sont venus de si loin pour aider notre pays et je les en remercie.

For me it's very important to remember those men who fought so that our country can find peace and be what it is today.
Commemorations about the First World War are important for France because France is attached to its past and to men who fought that we could be free. They sacrificed themselves for our freedom so we must thank them by commemorating these soldiers, usually very young men who came from all over the world to fight and liberate France. Our country and particularity the city of Arras owe a lot to people of New Zealand. New Zealander tunneliers played an important role during the battle of Arras. This very deadly battle that will lead them to the final victory and the end of the war (the Battle of Arras took place from April 9 to May 16, 1917).
Each New Zealander family is linked to our country by a member of his family who fought in our country during the First World War. The knowledge of this fact appealed to me and I wanted to thank the people of New Zealand for their help so important so that our country finds peace.
I think it is very important for us young people not to forget the invaluable help that New Zealanders have given to our country.
It is therefore essential to ensure that we maintain strong relations between our two countries, forever linked by history.
I don't have an ancestor who was part of the war but I'm touched men risked their lives for us to allow to be free and happy in 2018.
I'm interested in this project because it allows me to discover New Zealand, a country that makes me dream. This allows me to discover its traditions, its food, the way New Zealanders live. But also to discover the history of this country and to make a tribute to these men who have left everything for the freedom of France. They came from so far to help our country and I thank them.
